And yeah, I know that Waugh hated the movie (one of my favorites--and not just because it's the one that broke the blacklist for my father), but Liberace as a coffin salesman is just too delicious to resist. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any images of Paul Williams as the rocket-loving kid who (ahem) launches the idea for space "burial."

Bella, I saw THE LOVED ONE years and years ago on TV as a late, late, late, late movie, and I've never been able to get it out of my head. I wish it was on DVD. Thanks for the memory!
It's on VHS for sure (or was, anyway). I have a copy; there must be others kicking around--maybe even at your local Highbrow (or Lowbrow) Video Rental.
My dvd from Netflix finally arrived, and Gary and I devoured it last night. What a hoot.
Hope your recovery is going well!
