Monster v Condi

Which picture is scarier?

Frankenstein and Condoleezza Rice go head to head on the homepage of today's Washington Post Book World, which features reviews of workshop alum Susan Tyler Hitchcock's FRANKENSTEIN: A Cultural History and Glenn Kessler's THE CONFIDANTE: Condoleezza Rice and the Creation of The Bush Legacy.

FYI, I'm far more fearful of the horrors represented by the photo on the right.

Edit: The caption above is mine, but the photo juxtaposition is the Washington Post's.

I just took you off my RSS feeds for that one. For a person who makes her living teaching authors how to promote themselves, you sure do a great job offending those who might potentially want to use your services in the future (which to me is anti-promotion). Whether you agree with the administration or not, I don't think pissing off would-be clients is a very smart thing to do. Good luck to you.

Yes, I think it's true: Condi will not come to you for advice on how to promote her book....

Hey Susan--Way to go with the great coverage! Can't wait to check out Frankie...I remember when this was just a glimmer in your eye ;-)

It's true that any of us in business who offer glimpses into our personal politics on the internet take a risk. But it's been clear from the beginning that this is a personal blog which includes observations on subjects related to your business activities as well as "other stuff" as your description states. If Anonymous wants to draw a defined line between personal opinion and business, perhaps s/he shouldn't have been reading this blog in the first place, especially since s/he is so easily offended. I advise s/he stay away from the NY Times and Washington Post.

Good point, Eric. I wonder if Anonymous has taken newspapers off her list of things to read - (offensive news...)
Bella, I agree with you 100¨% - the Bush administration terrifies me. People need to speak up. Free speech has been stifled in the US in the name of jingoism (not even patriotism!) and it's refreshing to find someone willing to say what they think.
